Sonic Heroes for PlayStation 2
Apparently the whole moon-eradicating-space-station-planet-ending based epiphany the good doctor had the last time around hasn't stuck, as Eggman is once again taunting his arch rival with the prospect of the "ultimate" weapon, which he dares Sonic to even try defeating- by letter, the most diabolical means of boasting and threatening. Never one to back down from a challenge, Sonic- alongside his friends, Tails and Knuckles- embark on a journey to put a halt to the mad engineer's latest scheme. As luck would have it, their story is interwoven with the stories of Shadow The Hedgehog, Rouge The Bat, and E-123 Omega, who have their own beef with Eggman; Vector The Crocodile, Espio The Chameleon, and Charmy The Bee, a rag tag detective team roped into a series of escapades by a mysterious benefactor; and Amy Rose, Cream The Rabbit, and Big The Cat, who are looking for their missing friends, Chocola The Chao and Froggy. With gameplay based around a three-way team based mechanic where each member focused on either Speed, Power, or Flight (with levels the reflected each ability at any given point), and sort of reintroducing the "two acts a level" gimmick if you squint, Sonic Heroes was something of a sleeper hit within the franchise, and one that definitely deserves more love then it's given.
