Sonic Riders for PlayStation 2
Legend speaks of an ancient floating island called the Babylon Garden, which was entirely populated by master thieves that often went by the moniker of the Babylon Rogues. So skilled were they at the art of thievery that eventually, they incurred the wrath of the very gods themselves; their home and their many plundered bounties- many of which were shockingly advanced technology for the time- were subsequently locked away, but the lineage of the Rogues continued into the present day; learning of all of this, Dr. Eggman, always the schemer, tracks down the current Babylon Rogues, and taking advantage of both their greed and their pride, manages to play them off against Sonic and his friends... by way of a racing tournament that makes use of Extreme Gear, boards that are powered by air. Thus begins Sonic Riders; a story of intrigue, mystery, and the secrets of the past, as told through the lense of a Red Bull X Games-type racing tourny. Though Riders has many detractors, it has gained something of a cult following, in no small part due to its incredibly high skill ceiling, heavily stylised official art, cartoony and offbeat animations, and the heavily electronica influenced soundtrack.
