Our Thoughts

Sonic Heroes is a fascinating title in retrospect; released when the Modern Era of Sonic was still in its relative infancy (with only Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Advance, and Sonic Advance 2 preceding it), Sonic Heroes seemed to try and recapture some of the spirit of the classic titles, with much more fantastical settings and stages then those found in the Adventure titles, every two levels featuring a similar themeing in a throwback to the "two acts per zone" element of the older games, and much more cartoony and cutesy enemy robots compared to the more angular designs from its immediate predecessor. It also has a single unified play style across all four campaigns, which focuses on switching out one of three team members with different attributes- Speed, Flight, and Power- based on the requirements of different sections of each level. Unfairly maligned both at the time and in recent years, Sonic Heroes is something of a lost gem with plenty of charm that is well worth revisiting.
