Our Thoughts

The Call Of Duty name has forever been canonized as one of the single most popular game series’ on the planet, with even non-gamers being aware of its name and presence as a pop culture phenomenon, and this is the game that started it all. The setting is, of course, World War II, and the story takes you through the trials, triumphs, and defeats of the USA and UK paratroopers, as well as the Russian Red Army, spread across 24 missions absolutely jam packed with buzzing bullets from blazing guns, colleagues and friends dropping left and right, and gunfights as intense and as thrilling as you’ve all come to expect from the series. The visuals have a certain cinematic charm to them, especially notable for the time the game came out, as you witness the carnage and chaos of one of the most devastating wars the world has even known through the eyes of the hapless soldiers themselves, each with their own distinct stories and personalities. Although the combat is fined to infantry and combined warfare, the single player does boast some fairly impressive-for-the-time computer controlled soldiers fighting by your side, and the missions are indeed based on real skirmishes and battles that occurred during wartime. Though the latter entries indeed outclass the original technically, Call Of Duty remains a highly playable classic in its own right.
