Tom Clancys Splinter Cell Platinum for PlayStation 2
It’s 2004, and the political climate has grown further tense with the recent assassination of the president of Georgia. Kombayn Nikoladze, one of the richest men in the country, manages to gain power through a bloodless coup d'état amidst the chaos, provoking concerns of nefarious activity within the various intelligence agencies. The NSA’s recently opened Third Echelon branch puts their newest agent- Sam Fisher, an ex-navy seal and veteran of the Persian Gulf War- onto the task of figuring out exactly what is going on within the country, specifically investigating the potential of terrorist activity that could threaten other countries. Almost immediately things go south in a very big way, as an informant that Fisher was scheduled to meet with is found dying in a burning building, and with his final few breaths, warns that information that could incite a war was transmitted between agents in the region. Splinter Cell matches a spy-thriller story with stealth action gameplay, and was intended as a potential “Metal Gear killer” by it’s developers.
