SoulCalibur II for PlayStation 2
It's been four years since Nightmare ravaged Europe, felling souls left and right towards his nefarious designs, all of which revolved around the legendary Soul Edge, a powerful set of dual blade with an evil power. It was believed- or even hoped- that the three brave warriors that put a stop to his plans and shattered the Soul Blade had put an end to the nightmare once and for all, but it turns out bad things can't be kept down either, and before long the legendary Azure Night is back, fully restored Soul Edge in his hands, bloodlust just as potent as before. And, also much as before, he faces a group of warriors who want the sword, either to destroy it or repurpose it for their own ends. The tale of soul and of sword continues it's eternal retelling, bringing with it vastly improved Step and Avoid mechanics, arena walls to prevent Ring Outs from some angles (and opportunities for moves that required their use), the addition of a new three step Soul Charge system and a Clash mechanic, the impressive visual flair the series is known for, and the usual slew of unlockable art, weapons and extras the series has become known for.
All three versions of Soul Calibur II contain an exclusive extra character available in only one respective version of each game; the PS2 version's exclusive character is Heihachi Mishima, from Namco's other fighting game franchise, the Tekken series.
