Silent Scope for PlayStation 2
Whilst returning from a trip to Chicago, Illinois, the First Family’s convoy is ambushed by a vicious terrorist sect who, in the confusion, managed to kidnap the President and his entire family, demanding the release of their leader (known as The Dictator) in return for the First Family’s safety. As this is an extremely delicate matter, the US Military needs to deal with it as carefully and quietly as possible, sending one of their elite Sniper regimen into the danger zone to deal with the sect and rescue the President and his family. Unusually for an arcade rail shooter, and befitting the title and set up, Silent Scope swaps out fast paced frenetic action with a gameplay style that demands attention, focus, and careful aiming. Points are rewarded based not only on where you hit your opponents- with head shots rewarding the highest amount of points per kill- your score is multiplied based on the number of successful shots made by the player over the course of the level. In true arcade fashion, this need for careful aiming is marred by a tight timer, although this is circumvented slightly by the fact that several enemies reward the player with extra time once shot.
