Middle-Earth: Shadow of War for PlayStation 4
It's fair to say that J. R. R. Tolkein's fantasy universe- known as the Legendarium- is the driving force in the now decades-strong fascination with fantasy fiction, and is the bedrock upon which many other fantasy epics to come out since are based, in both little and large ways. The movie epics directed by Peter Jackson, previously of Braindead and Bad Taste fame, only stoked the flames further and made the world of Middle Earth a bankable name amongst Joe and Jane Public and the nerdy faithful alike. It's a surprise, then, that games based on the universe that aren't movie tie-ins are so few and far between, but Monolith Productions are filling that niche wonderfully with their series of action RPGs baring the Middle Earth name.
The second in an ongoing series, Middle Earth: Shadow of War sees players once again put in the role of Talion, a ranger possessed by the spirit of the Elf lord Celebrimbor, their aim to forge a brand new Ring of Power with which to turn the tide in the war against Sauron. The Nemesis System introduced by the previous entry, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, has been greatly expanded upon; now, you are able to employ the aid of several of Middle Earth's various races, including Uruks and Orcs, and are able to plan out complex strategies in battle using them.
