Far Cry for Windows PC
Jack Carver is a decidedly bitter man, breaking away from his incredibly unhappy past to live the quiet life of a boat charter in the South Pacific region. Things get very sticky and kinda weird, however, when what should’ve been an easy gig- escorting journalist Val Cortez to an uncharted Island in Micronesia- ends with his boat getting blown to kingdom come by a rocket. Thankfully, he survives, with the help of a man named Doyle; less thankfully, he now finds himself knee deep in a dastardly conspiracy. One involving genetic experimentation, mutated life forms called Trigens, mercenaries that are fighting a losing battle, and the demented machinations of the Krieger Corporation and its CEO, Dr. Krieger. Travelling between the small network of infested islands with Doyle’s help, as well as trying to locate and rescue Val, Jack digs himself deeper and deeper into an increasingly ugly situation, ultimately finding himself tasked with more then just survival. Far Cry is a fairly innovative shooter for its time, integrating an emphasis on tactical combat by way of using the surrounding environment tactically in combat, enemies that react dynamically to your presence depending on the situation, and the ability to use sound to determine enemy location.
