Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror for PlayStation
George Stobbart has a bit of a problem; his girlfriend, investigative reporter Nicole Collard, has gone the way of most video game girlfriends and got herself abducted by a dangerous crime cartel, called the Karzac. And much as it happens in most adventure games, nothing is as simple as it seems at face value, and the machinations of the cabal are both secondary to and intertwined with the truth behind the legend of the ancient god Tezcarlipoca, who it is said would devour both the Sun and all of mankind. Progress through the story comes through conversations, formed alliances, and confrontations with espionage agents, drug dons, ruthless dictators, quirky scientists, dishonoured priests, and life saving shamans, whilst collecting clues and trinkets such as Mayan artefacts. Rendered in an eye pleasing, cartoon-esque visual style, and backed by a script with a sense of humour as well as peril, the second of the Broken Sword series is a game well worth adding to your collection.
